Pretty Little Liars Reboot Is Coming To HBO Max

Got a secret, can you keep it?

HBO Max made an official announcement about the new Pretty Little Liars reboot last week and we couldn’t be more excited!

It’s been a whole three years since the Pretty Little Liars finale. Running for a successful seven seasons, the story surrounded a group of small-town friends traumatised by the infamous ‘A’. The show was based on the New York Times bestselling book collection by Sarah Shepard, comprising of 16 books and three novels.

The revamp will be headed up by the same people that brought us The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, and the original Pretty Little Liars (Muckle Man Productions and Alloy Entertainment), in association with Warner Bros. Television. The writing talent will be those who penned the Netflix originals Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

If you’re a fan of this genre then this will be extra special for you, be prepared for an ultra-thrilling, ramped-up, ‘A’ illustrious new show specifically ordered and packaged as a straight-to-series Max Original Drama.

The spin-off has been described as being a “dark, coming-of-RAGE, horror-tinged drama” (HBO Max, September 24, 2020). The storyline is said to be somewhat similar to that of the PLL we all know and love, and it was confirmed that this series will exist on the same plain as the original PLL universe. So, there might be a chance we could see the original liars referenced or even appear in the show somewhere along the line.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is the new title which makes for an interesting development of characters and plot – will all of this actually pre-date the PLL we all know? New town. New Secrets. New Liars. Is the tagline used to promote the series hinting at a same but different vibe.

We’re certain there will be a sinner full of new and enticing twists, turns, plots, and, of course it just wouldn’t be PLL if there weren’t some extremely twisted, mischievous, and multi-faceted relationships thrown into the mix.

HBO Max retweeted the reboot teaser posted by the official Pretty Little Liars account – check it out: “It’s not what you think, B*tches”

Unfortunately, UK audiences won’t be able to take advantage of HBO Max as a streaming service due to their lucrative deal with Sky, which makes it very unlikely that the service will be venturing over to the UK as a separate product anytime soon. That being said, Sky has promised that their customers can enjoy HBO content on the Sky Atlantic channel or via Now TV, so watch this space.

Tell us what you think of this news – are you a fan of PLL?
