Disney Plus, home to Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic and Disney, is getting its sixth brand to launch on the platform. Star is a brand new brand which will be home to thousands of hours of television and movies from Disney’s creative studios, Disney Television Studios, FX Productions and 20th Century Studios. The content is definitely more appealing to those looking for extra thrills and more surprises!

From 23rd February, fans can expect to be hit with some ultimate binge-worthy TV shows. You may even say that some of them are ultimate classics which should be on everybody’s watchlist. Some of Star’s stand out titles include…

Big Sky

From the creator that brought us Big Little Lies comes Big Sky, an intense thriller that follows private detectives Cassie Dewell and Cody Hoyt as they search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver.

Love, Victor

From the team that made Love, Simon comes the TV show inspired by the hit film. The series follows Victor, a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery and struggling with his sexual orientation, as he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.

The X-Files

Unconventional FBI agent, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) investigates a group of unsolved cases that he believes involves paranormal phenomena. He teams up with Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) as the pair work to solve the X-files in this complex and thrilling drama.

Prison Break

In this classic action-drama, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) must get incarcerated alongside his brother (Dominic Purcell) in a bid to break them both out of prison. Each episode is a new puzzle and Michael takes on the daunting task of solving the far-reaching national-scale conspiracy that landed his brother behind bars in the first place.

Lost

As far as throwbacks go, give us Lost any day. J.J Abrams delivers 118 episodes of pure mystery, fantasy and adventure as the survivors of Oceanic Air Flight 815 are forced to work together in order to survive on a deserted tropical island.

24

Keither Sutherland stars in this unique TV series where the entire season takes place in one day, with each of the 24 episodes covering one hour, told in real time.

Desperate Housewives

With a killer cast, you’ll get roped into the secrets and truths of one suburban neighbourhood after the mysterious suicide of a neighbour.

How I Met Your Mother

Josh Radnor and Jason Segel star in the comedy series. Through a series of flashbacks, a father recounts to his children the journey he and his four best friends took leading up to him meeting their mother.

Atlanta

Donald Glover is in Atlanta as he and his cousin Alfred try to make their way in the world through the rap scene. The show explores their challenges along the way, from social and economic issues touching on race, poverty, and parenthood.

Black-ish

Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross star in this comedy series as family man Andre “Dre” struggles to gain a sense of cultural identity while raising his kids in a white, upper-middle-class neighbourhood.

We’re definitely excited to see Disney+ expand, and we welcome all of the standout shows  to the platform. If you’re thinking it all looks to be more suited for the adult audience then you’re definitely right, but fear not because Disney+ are ensuring that parental controls will separate family time from me-time! So, you can safely re-watch the Lost love-triangle whilst the younger family members spend time with their favourite Ice Age pals.

Star will be available on the streaming service from 23rd February, 2021.
